Transgender Dysphoria - What's Next?
More research is needed to determine how best to provide support and treatment for the long term medical and psychological well-being of individuals who transition. Families should be informed of the risks, and the concept of waitful watching should be implemented in a supportive exploratory way. There are negative consequences both psychologically and medically from this rapid onset and then quick medicalization of that experience. Let's take a more scientific approach to the evaluation and treatment of those with gender dysphoria and not make it a political issue.
