Passover, Passover Meal - The New Covenant in Christ's Blood
The wine anticipates the kingdom, and maybe heis making some sort of nazarite vow of abstinence. He instructs them to do this in remembrance of him, or we could say, as his memorial. The meal is a covenant sealing meal. It gives a share in the kingdom to those who participate in it. This might make us think back to the judgment upon the wicked vine es. They will be replaced by the faithful servants, the 12 apostles. However, one of the people at the table will betray christ. Verse nine: Even my close friend in whom i trusted has lifted his heel against me.
