Back in the 19 eighties, if you were l gpt q in kansas city, there were few safe places where you could show your love and feel like you could just be yourself in public. A formidable rent was a big draw but womantown provided more than just a place to live. It was a social outlet, a safety network and a self sufficient community where women didn't have to rely on men for anything. We really just wanted to live in a neighborhood where we were accepted. And what we saw develop over the years.
