Detecting Gravitational Waves
Gravitational waves were predicted 500, 100 years before the first detection was made. Einstein's theory of relativity is a bendy spacetime thing. Now we can watch black holes colliding in the distant universe and learn about how they grow. The discovery also tells us something about how galaxies grow.
