The Immigrant Story in Europe

In the United States we have these two strains when it comes to immigration, you know, in our self-identity is all about the melting pot and welcoming immigrants. Are there parts of Europe that have that first piece of it that self identity of being welcoming? Or is that still a uniquely American idea? And which countries are doing better at sort of turning the immigrant story that is causing lots of disruption in Europe into something that they want to advertise? I think France, increasingly Scandinavia and Italy are less like that.
