Schopenhauer's Problem With Materialism

Schopenhauer's problem with materialism that it assumes a dead world. It assumes that objects can exist without a subject, which he thinks is impossible. Material objects aren't real for schopenhauer, unless they're represented by the knower. Without the knower to represent reality, we have no way of knowing that there is any reality.
