The Impact of the ICJ's Decision on State Conduct
I think the chances of a really bad outcome are relatively small if the question asked is a good question. The hopes are very high and there's something powerful about youth law students, movements and also small-stage turning to the ICJ in the hope that the ICJ will help to bring about positive change. But what do you really want to get out of the opinion then? So of course it is about clarification on the law. And we have a reason to believe that pronouncements from international courts and tribunals influence state conduct in various ways.
