Cindy and Roy make peace were placed on round the clock surveillance. During this time, Roy made no attempt to contact or harm Cindy. 6 months later on December 11, Cindy left work on her lunch break and didn't return. That night, Desiree Il-Zessar was cycling near the University of British Columbia. She saw a blonde woman staggered before falling into a ditch across the street. Racing over to her, Desiree noticed the woman had a black stocking wrapped tightly around her neck. She managed to tear the stocking off with her bare hands and called an ambulance.
