Bobby Kennedy did feel very strongly and warmly towards McCarthy. He went to the funeral, as you say, but he visited McCarthy on his deathbed. A few weeks before he died, he goes to the private burial in Wisconsin. Ironically, it's Jay Garhuber who stealthily and sneakily maneuvers to marginalized McCarthy while making McCarthy think that he's his ally. That is some Machiavellian stuff right there.
