The Threat of Circumcision to the Spiritual Life

In Galatians, Paul is emphasizing one major threat to the spiritual life: returning to the life of the flesh. The idea that circumcision is associated with being according to the flesh has now become like a badge of spiritual superiority. These two things are going to be presented to us as alternatives.
