Avalanche - Layer One and Subnets
Avalanche has subnets and it does it in a horizontal fashion, similar to what Cosmos and Polkadot do. It's almost as if you think of Avalanche as layer zero and subnets are layer ones on top of Avalanche that use an Avalanche consensus protocol. For Avalanche is also a way to scale. Every single layer one ultimately has to deal with the trilema and scale is a big issue.
