By the mid-twenties, Victor von Kerber realized that this was a bad strategy and he needed to be rebranding himself. He eventually became an ardent anti-Nazi and even helped smuggle a German Jew out of Germany. The book was banned not super long after its release. It's hard to say how much support it won him, but it was part of a successful strategy that made Hitler's acceptable to the right.
