The Importance of Training Age

It takes about four years to develop a player physically for adult sport, says Arsene Wenger. A young 16-year-old could be way further down the road in training age compared to maybe an 18-19-year-olds that arrived with us. So that's an important consideration in programming. Once a player has a trained age in the gym, their mobility stability is good. And they get to a reasonable strength level, which doesn't have to be dramatic 1.7 times body weight in a squat,. Then you can develop strength, strength, speed, rate of force development.
