More voters voted for John Major's Conservative Party in the 1992 election than have ever voted for any other political party. The top three jobs in government will be held by the same people for the last six years, which is unprecedented and one of them is Theresa May. She's got a reputation for competence and a certain authoritarianism which she's now seeking to soften.
