The Importance of Being Black

I never saw my color until someone pointed it out to me. I was terrified of the rain. My kids recognize that in them when one of them was called Afro-Bitch at school. So many people have been traumatized by being Black, somehow you hadn't let yourself know fully that you were Black. And then Black lives mattered and so much stuff came out of that. It took a long time to break down after her last marriage broke down. She thought she looked straight but had injuries from working out obsessively or drinking too much.
