It was like wanting to be cool and adopting as much of a DIY aspect to it as it possibly could. Michael Steigt was very heavily involved in the cover work for REM's records, even though he was mostly using photography. David Bowie is very involved in the design of the sleeve artworks and so on. And I could not, in all consciousness, let that go. It didn't feel right. We felt not that we didn't want to be any part of that whole thing at all anyway. So what you're saying is that you're using the kind of, if you like, the platforms that are normally provided to very commercial activities to subvert that whole process effectively through
