The Challenge of Electrifying Our Society

To electrify our world, four separate challenges exist and very little attention has been paid to the last three. The first challenge is to replace vehicles and other machines that use internal combustion engines with new versions that use electric motors instead. Every bit of energy now supplied by gasoline and diesel fuel will need to be replaced with new electric generation capacity we simply don't have yet. Wind and solar will help a lot but they're not enough for 24-7 base load power needed to electrify the global economy.
