HBO's History of Comedy Stand Up Comedians
HBO dominated the comedy stand up comedy space at that time. At some point, Susie Fitzgerald was saying, well, why don't we take one of these female comics? We don't have a lot of female perspective in our program in slate. And those kinds of ideas at the time met a lot of resistance in the form of nope, like, we're here for the men. Like, this is like a service for men. It really impacted what was shown on screen and continued to after HBO's early days.
