Early on, rap made some use of the featured credit. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious 5's classic 1982 single, The Message, didn't just name check the prominent lead rapper, Melly Mel. Even producer Edward Fletcher, aka Duke Booty, was given credit. Run DMC's 1986 remake of Aerosmith's Walk This Way, despite the rock band's prominence in both the song and the video, Aerosmith are not actually credited on the single.
