David Bianculli: It is rare that we lose someone who is such a legal giant as Lawrence Silverman. He was the solicitor of labor, which is sort of like the solicitor general, but they argue the labor cases. And then he was the dad, the deputy attorney general at the Department of Justice. But most interestingly to me, because so many of those cases, the Supreme Court then sides with Judge Silberman in New York Times v Sullivan. That's worth a really good extended discussion on your times v Sullivan, Bissell says.
