Sally Kohn: "I wanted to speak about this idea that we talk about on the show a lot, that stories have a force of their own" She says she's been carrying it around in some ways all her life. So what was that shift from family story you carry in your heart and in your bones to a story that you begin to imagine as bigger? The 2019 sections of the book was a much harder one for me than 1929 or 1930s. I do think there may be a sequel to this story looking at Megan and her newfound community in Birmingham because I've heard some readers say they want some closure around that.
