The Four Fundamental Forms of Art

Boyd's theory would seem to imply that we will sort of converge on the things that we find most interesting as pieces of art. Beautiful objects and beautiful pieces of art would have more sophisticated patternicity, he says. As art becomes further and further away from these four fundamental forms, like if you nail a screw into a piece of drywall and attach some band-aid to it or call them modern art, it's not clear if it's design or so it doesn't fit into the pattern very well.
