The Superconductivity at Room Temperature
Stephen Soutyter: Superconductivity is a state of matter that has no resistance. He says it can exclude magnetic field from its interior, which was discovered by Meisner and Oxenfeld in the 1930s. In 1986 Alex Muller and George Bednorz found they could make superconductor at room-temperature - but had to find an oxide material with oxygen first. The key insight into what's going on was given by Fritz and Heinz London who came over as part of exodus of German Jewish scientists during early 1930s.
