The Limitations of RAM
The eight gigs of RAM thing is like you kind of the limiting factor. There are definitely machines with less out there and without Z RAM to compress some of that. Two gigabytes is just not enough once you start doing basically anything. You can't run Firefox or Chrome on four gigs of RAM super well, unless you're keeping it to one tab. And then if you load up a video, you're going to have problems. It's really hard to use a machine with two gigabytes of RAM, even with a lightweight environment.
