The Origins of the Nipro River in Rus
The Norsemen were sea nomads. They made their way down river roots, so it wasn't land that defined their state at the very beginning but rather river roots and trading roots. And Kyve happened to be on the Nipro river on the way to Byzantium, to Constantinople, to the Greeks. It was a convenient place to gather merchandise. So basically what was traded from Maruis lands was fur and honey and most importantly, slaves and then goods were returned to the Rus lands. In several cases we have meetings recorded in the Polvis de Bredeména Glet about how to resolve issues of succession.
