Nica wants to prioritize, or lionize, eschalus and sophocles because he thinks their tragedies express unworkable, tragic situations. Nica: You don't get to know antigony enough as well as you would need to as a character to identify with her. It's the chorus, in a way, that does a lot of the empathizing. A few look back over antigone, or look at edipus. And the chorus is trying to call these emotions out of you, regardless of how well developed the characters are.
