Mariel: The only true agreement that these characters and people have in their life is death based off of all of the sudden loss. I've always felt that titles ought to be a little mysterious, that they're meant to be chewed on. To me the word covenant had a lot to do with the faithfulness of a matriarch and the family and that sort of covenant. And this family was played by their inability of some people in each generation to actually deal with water so in a strange way their covenant with water was broken until the day they finally sought out the covenant.
