Sting: Some of those punk rock musicians in spite of their stance actually were kind of into music and wanted to be good. I remember when we went down to play in France at the Montemurcine Festival all these London punk bands including Paul Simmons on the bus. Sting was actually asking Sting about you know the finger be like that or she'd be hers. That meant it was okay for me to play plenty of drum tom tom fills. But what was not allowed was love songs, guitar solos, improvisation. Those are the things that we started to bend the rules on just because we like this. The sorts of chords had to be open. It had to be opened
