Hedging in the Penalty Box
In 2022 option hedging largely failed and created exposures that didn't work for the most part. In many situations choices about how to manage portfolios etc contributed to that. And so, you know, I have to agree with everybody that hedging is kind of in the penalty box as people talk about the VIX being broken or all these sorts of dynamics. Now as we look at the dynamics of credit events and information entering markets that has more idiosyncratic immediacy I would suggest the opportunities grow for that type of hedging.
