The Benefits of Retiring Trees
We can get at least 20 bone-dried tons per acre in terms of yield annually from giant reed. In 80 years, we could produce probably 50 times more biomass than you would with the tree. We're not looking initially at replacing trees all out because that would be a lot of giant reed that we'd have to put in the ground given the amount of timber produced every year around the world.
