What Are Trigger Warnings?
It started with feminist circles on online communities that started just wanting to protect people without having to get rid of content entirely. Some schools passed school-wide policies, Oberlin College did in 2014 and then ultimately pulled it back. There is an NPR poll of 800 professors that found that about half of them were using trigger warnings of some sort. But by and large, this was like a bottom up thing and professors said, well, I don't want to get in trouble.
