What Is the Meaning of the Word Banish?

Old English and the Frankish language had a Germanic word bun which meant to command or forbid something. The late Romans put the Latin suffix contra meaning against in front of that Frankish word. Banish is the version which came from the Franks thanks to the French. And the word bandit also comes from the same Germanic root word but it originated within early Italian.
