The pediatrics AIDS foundation was founded by a woman by the name of Elizabeth Glaser who contracted the disease in the 1980s through a blood infusion and unknowingly passed it on to both of her children. The first high-profile fashion-related death was in 1985 with the loss of fashion designer Chester Weinberg, who at this time was a household name. This was followed by Perry Ellis in 1986, Willie Smith in 1987, Men's Wear Designer Lee Wright, and then an up-and-coming Women's Wear Designer by thename of Isaiah Rankin in 1980.
