The Police's Failure to Warn the Claimant of a Danger

The claimant in this case had been in an abusive and coercive relationship with somebody who they called RG. Officers were dispatched to the claimant's address but unfortunately, neither the neighbour nor the call handler rang the claimant to warn her of the danger. Sadly, the claimant then left her house and RG stabbed her with a large knife seven times in front of her children. He was subsequently convicted of attempted murder. Rosalind: Were the police liable in negligence for a failure to warn the claimant about the danger, which is of course an omission?
