Non-violent communication (NVC) can be used to connect with others and resolve conflict in a respectful way. NVC is a four-step process of communication that focuses on the present moment, feelings, needs and the actions that can be taken to meet those needs. When using NVC in a parent-child dynamic, you've got some options for how you can use it for connection. Self-empathy, self-expression, and offering empathy are steps one through three.
