I can't help but wonder if this encounter with this green book upsets him all the more for that reason. There's not a jungle that needs to be trimmed or cut down, but there's a desert. Both deserts and jungles would need to be corrected,. But it's the desertification of the modern mind and the modern sensibility that is the more typical error he's saying. In the green book, the authors are subtly conditioning children to be very skeptical, very cynical about any claims of value about, say, waterfalls.
