Bon Was a Symbol of the End of the War.
In 19 forty nine, bon became the provisional capital of west germany. American forces took bon in 19 forty five, not long before the end of the war. The city built a subway, an international school, an opera house and all of this in a city of just around 300 thousand peoplei but then the impossible happened. And the german parliament voted to move the capital back to berlin. But you shouldn't feel too bad for bon. It struck it big as the capital.
