The Critteous Boy and the Athena
Antonor's sculpture set was stolen by the Persians when they occupied Athens. The original would later find its way back to Athens during the Hellenistic period, and Pausanias reports that both pairs stood side by side in the Agora. A Roman copy of it made in marble is now housed at the Archaeological Museum of Naples. While the Critteous Boy introduced the transitional type of standing male nude figure, a statue known as Angolita's Athena marks the change from archaic to transitional.
