The Future of Artificial Intelligence
The idea is that if we were to develop AI that could automate the process of research itself you could have just explosive growth in the rate of new technology. That could lead us to a wacky sci-fi future a lot faster than people tend to imagine. And another part of the series is that this kind of AI that you can imagine that could automate research is not just hypothetical. It's something that as far as the best guesses at least I'm able to make and they're not particularly great guesses and they're more likely than not to be developed this century.
