Cross-Platform Play Is Vital to the Business Models of Fortnite
In mid 2018, they released Fortnite for the Nintendo Switch and it comes to market fully cross-platform. Sony then is put into the position where they have to ban players who have PS4 linked Fortnite accounts from playing on the Switch. And with Nintendo now in the cross-platform camp with Microsoft, Sony finally is forced to relent. By the beginning of 2019, Fortnite prevails. This opens cross-platform broadly across the industry and now pretty much every major game enables cross-platform play. Rocket League Genshin Impact, Call of Duty, Warzone, Apex Legends all come to market cross- Platform.
