The History of the Chinese Exclusion Act
The Chinese Exclusion Act of 1882 banned Chinese laborers from migrating to the United States for 10 years. The act was later extended even though it was initially supposed to be imposed for 10 years and then it was made permanent until the act was repealed in 1943 with the Magnusson Act. There was a quota for Chinese immigrants that was set to 105 people. It's not as if like anti Chinese violence wasn't just concentrated in the West.
