Education and the Fourth Estate Are Prerequisites for a Democracy

If we really wanted to be a democracy, an effective forth estate and education are prerequisites. We could use these same technologies that are destroying open societies to build better ones. Both facebook and gugl on one side and china on the other side, are deploying expediential tech towards purposes. If the umpen societies are not also developing, ploying where the power is, then they will just lose. And what we're saying is that the open societies have to develop and deploy the full suite of modern technologys in order to create new digital era ompen societies which can protect against catastrophe, but also protect against istopias.
