The Importance of Relationships in a Film
The 1969 movie is very good. If it were just a movie on its own, I would consider it a triumph. The one thing that the movie does not do is it does not have any of these complicated themes. It completely takes away all the flash forwards and it simplifies. In some way, she glosses over the whole sexual aspect of the affair. And that affair actually happens very close to the end of the book. But in the movie, a lot more is made out of the relationship between Sandy and Teddy.
