What Is Section 230?

Section 230 was passed in response to a pair of rulings from the early 90s. It immunizes platforms against liability for what their users have said, but empowering them to police user speech however they saw fit. Ever since it's been left up to these platforms to set and enforce their own rules. And importantly, as well, section 230 also protects users.
