I think this goes back to this relativism, this rejection of truth and also a limitation of reason to the empirical. The only thing that's reasonable are those things which can be demonstrated empirically. A university is not supposed to be a place for indoctrination. So if your set of social institutions don't allow wide scope for individual human beings to engage in deliberative process, they will not be able to capture all their essence.
