What's the Biggest Thing in Tracheotomy?
In a patient who has had a laryngectomy, there's no connection between the nasopharynx and the trachea. So if you intubate this person through their mouth, all you're going to do is insufflate their stomach, which is dangerous. The tracheotomy is your own lead airway option.
