The Trump Comment on the US Debt Ceiling
Former President Trump said in a CNN town hall Wednesday night that the US should default if the White House doesn't agree to spending cuts. In a lot of ways, Trump is saying the quiet part out loud, right? If you are using the debt ceiling as a negotiation tactic, you have to be prepared to trigger it and you have to being prepared to default on it. What House Republicans and Senate Republicans are saying is use it in a negotiating tactic, but don't actually be prepared to default.
