Elisha and Jemima benton died of smallpox in 17 77. The couple was buried on the family property, but were not allowed to share a grave with each other due to burial custom at the time. Visitors have reported hearing noises throughout the house that are difficult to explain. A woman has even been seen wandering around the homestead looking for something no one else can see.
