The grimis were usually depicted by the english speaking media as trade unions. The spanish word for trade union is sindicato. Perhaps the term craft guild, used in the mediaeval sense, captures much of the sense of grimeo. We'll get into that more as we continue this chapter. It's not really quite the case that you see the withering of the state exactly. There's something very complex going on here.
