This is our problem. It's not the government problem, it's not a public policy problem. Some things we've done to ownership of data and i think should be changed. But this is in our hands as parents and are selphone owners and as conversationalists. We can make the future what we want of it. And i think he culture will evolve and emerge to deal with this cultural moment that we're in That's different, and we haven't caught up yet. I'm off soon to go to israel to be president of shelem college,. which is a a place that brings a very different mind set to a very technological place.

Psychologist and author Sherry Turkle of MIT talks about her book, The Empathy Diaries, with EconTalk host Russ Roberts. The Empathy Diaries is a memoir about Turkle's secretive family and how that secrecy turned Turkle into an acute observer, skilled at revealing the story behind the story.
